| Ok, for all of you who don't already know, my husband, my 7 year old nephew, and I were driving to my parents house and another driver (driving in the opposite direction) struck the front driver-side of our car. Tony and my nephew walked away with bruises, I recieved the most injuries: Traumatic Brain Injury, broken left elbow, broken left wrist (broken in Canton, completely whole by the time the ambulance got to the Syracuse hospital), broken left femer, two broken kneecaps fractured pelvic bone, broken C1 vertebrae (healed after one and a half weeks), multiple skull and facial fractures, glass in my left wrist, and a broken right foot--the doctor could FEEL the broken bones in my foot, but when they X-rayed, my foot was whole, I only had a fracture in the ankle. I could list all the miracles I have seen and experienced until my fingers fell off, but I will list several: the fact that, besides my brain, none of us had internal injuries. My body is now almost completely healed, I just need to so some PT on my left knee (besides the broken kneecap, the doctors had to re-attach the patella tendon) and get the skull peices put back in (they were taken out to allow my brain to swell).I am now out of the hospital, healed to the point the hospital staff did not expect me to reach for 10 years. God is faithful, and He is a HEALER!!!!! For those of you who knew all this, thanks for all of the prayers and support, they worked, and are still working!! Praise God for His faithfulness!! | | |
| Here's the gist of it: I don't have to do it all on my own, God really does answer prayer. Last month was amazing, and I was part of a lot of good stuff! I helped run a business camp for inner city high school girls, and I taught them how to make jewelry :) I also did jewelry training with a woman who started a jewelry making project in Afghanistan, and she is going to take everything I taught her and teach the Afghani women. Tony and I are hoping to go there too, eventually..... We went to see Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Haste the Day, and From Autumn to Ashes last night (as well as two other insignificant bands....). However, the world was working against us, and we got there 45 minutes late only to discover that the first band had canceled, and Maylene had already played!!!!!!! POOP. The show was still worth it though, because I skipped Astronomy, Tony bought me a Maylene shirt, took his picture with Dallas while I was in the potty (by the way, he really looks like Jim Carrey in person), and FATA was amaaaaazing. I'm still sad I missed Maylene though :( Life's good. I'm getting married in 3 months and 1 week!! | | |
| Creating and solitude. Two of my most favorite relaxation and rejuvination techniques. I am currently savoring the short time I have being alone, drinking coffee, making jewelry, and watching Capote. It is so true that introverts gain energy from solitude. Look at me go. Mom and Dad are out celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They are amazing. This week I had my first emergency doctor's visit. I am a naturalist at heart, and have never gone to a doctor other than for a regular checkup or vaccinations or whatev (except, of course, when I had a tumor on my collar bone, and then I only went because my family was uber concered). Tuesday morning, however, when I started puking up blood at 5am, I called my dad (who was working overnight at 911) and he sent the rescue squad for me. Then I heard him over the police scanner,"21 year old female, vomiting blood." Riding in the ambulance wasn't fun, they didn't even have to put on the sirens since no one else was on the road. And I puked on the ambulance in front of my mom and two EMTs, so that was embarrassing. In the ER they figured out that I had the stomache flu, and the blood was no big deal unless it was in clots. They gave me some meds, and I didn't take them. I did, however, take the doctor's advice to drink a sip of water every 5 minutes. So, now I'm all good and healthy. And now, I'm going to go sledding in the dark with the Hogles. Jealous much? | | |
